April Meeting: Swap Meet

No Foolin’: It’s Bonsai Swap Night

As planned, we're having a bonsai swap meet for our meeting on April 1st. So If anyone has trees that they'd like to sell or trade PLEASE bring them to the meeting. We may also have a silent auction( proceeds to the club ). If anyone wants to donate trees for that bring them also. If there is any time left we can work on trees.

Not a member and want to join? Come to the meeting, see Gary Gifford, ACBS Treasurer, with $20 in cash or check (made out to “Akron Canton Bonsai Society”).

Japanese Black Pine: Step One – Potting

This is the Year of the Japanese Black Pine.

The Japanese Black Pine is truly one of the CLASSIC bonsai species. So we hope that you will join us in the fun of working together on this species (Pinus thunbergii).

This Thursday we will receive the pines we’ve ordered from Ken. Some ordered the small, and some ordered the medium size pines. At this meeting we will begin the process by discussing soils and potting techniques. Gib will bring his photography equipment so that everyone can take a “before” picture of their tree.
